Disclosure

Affiliate disclosure.

Last updated April 23, 2026

We want to be straight with you about how Gearfinch makes money. This page exists for two reasons: to be transparent with readers, and to comply with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR Part 255 guidelines on endorsements and the European equivalent rules.

The short version

Gearfinch participates in affiliate programs with the retailers we track. When you click a link on Gearfinch and make a purchase, the retailer pays us a small commission — typically 4% to 15% of the sale. This commission:

  • Does not change the price you pay.
  • Does not influence which deals we display or how we rank them — ranking is determined purely by real discount size, 90-day price history, and our editorial judgment.
  • Is the only revenue source for Gearfinch (no ads, no paid placements, no brand sponsorships).

Who we partner with

We participate in affiliate programs administered by major networks, including:

  • Impact
  • Awin
  • ShareASale
  • CJ Affiliate (formerly Commission Junction)
  • Refersion
  • Rakuten Advertising

We may add or remove relationships over time. If you want to know whether a specific brand on Gearfinch is one we earn from, email us and we’ll tell you.

How a click becomes a commission

When you click a “View deal” link on Gearfinch, here is exactly what happens:

  • Your click hits our /go/ redirector, which logs the click (time, deal, hashed IP, referrer — see our Privacy policy) and builds the retailer’s tracking URL server-side.
  • You are redirected to the retailer’s site through the affiliate network’s tracking layer. This typically sets a cookie on the retailer’s domain identifying Gearfinch as the referrer.
  • If you purchase within the retailer’s cookie window (usually 30 days), the retailer pays the affiliate network, which pays Gearfinch a small commission after a holding period.

What we promise

  • Editorial independence. No brand can pay us to be featured, pinned, or ranked higher. Featured deals are chosen by our team based solely on our deal-detection algorithm + editorial judgment.
  • No inflated prices. We verify every “was” price against 90 days of our own tracking data. We do not trust the retailer’s stated “was” price.
  • No pressure tactics. No fake countdowns, no “only 2 left” urgency, no exit-intent popups.
  • Full disclosure. This notice, linked from every page’s footer, covers every recommendation on the site. Individual editorial pieces also carry an affiliate disclaimer where applicable.

FTC compliance statement

This website complies with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising” (16 CFR Part 255) and equivalent European consumer-protection rules. Where we receive a commission or other compensation for featuring a product, that fact is disclosed conspicuously, both site-wide (this page, linked from every footer) and, where relevant, at the point of recommendation.

Amazon Associates disclaimer (if/when applicable)

If and when Gearfinch enrolls in the Amazon Associates Program, the following notice applies: Gearfinch is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
