How it works

The methodology behind every deal.

Every deal you see on Gearfinch passes through a five-stage pipeline: scrape, verify, store, compute, surface. No paid bypasses, no editorial shortcuts. This is exactly how it works, end to end.

The pipeline

Five stages, in order.

  1. 01

We track every product, every hour.

Every hour, our scrapers visit each brand we track and record the price and stock status of every product. This builds a 90-day price history we can compare today’s price against.

  2. 02

A deal is only a deal if it’s actually discounted.

We ignore ‘was’ prices on the brand’s site — they’re often inflated. Instead, we compare today’s price to the median of the last 90 days. If today is meaningfully cheaper, it’s a deal.

  3. 03

We rank by how good the deal really is.

The homepage and deal pages are sorted by a score that combines discount size, lowest-in-90-days status, and how long the product has been available. Best deals rise.

  4. 04

We surface price history right on the card.

Every deal card shows a tiny price-history chart so you can see at a glance whether today’s discount is genuinely special or business-as-usual.

  5. 05

We earn a small commission. The price to you is the same.

When you click through to the brand and buy, the brand pays us. You pay the same as you would going direct. That’s our only revenue — no ads, no paid placements, no data sold.

Permanent price history

Every observation we make is written to a time-series store and never overwritten. After three months, a single product has thousands of price points to compare today against.

Editorial-only ranking

Brands cannot purchase placement in the deal feed. Ranking is by genuine discount against 90-day median — the same signal applied uniformly across the entire catalogue.

Alerts you can trust

Set a target price on any product page. We email you only when today's price meets the criteria — no marketing blasts, no daily 'maybe' alerts.
